Stanley Middle School

To further utilize the recording studio that was funded by the Foundation we have provided funding for three projects at Stanley Middle School in Lafayette, California, which Julia attended. The first project sponsors student entries into jazz competition. The funds allow for a professional recording engineer to assist with presenting very professional quality entries into this competition.

The second project provides training to students who are in the music program who show an interest in the recording and technical aspects of the equipment currently in the Music Department. A professional recording engineer comes in on a regular basis to help these students become proficient. The students then become the trainers of other students.

The third project provides high quality recordings of the chamber, concert, and symphonic orchestras, the jazz band, and the chorus.

Generations in Jazz Foundation

The Julia Burke Foundation has provided funding for the Generations in Jazz Foundation to send students to The Lafayette Summer Music Jazz Workshop. Under the direction of workshop Director Bob Athayde, the workshop provides students with many hours of instruction in small-group settings that culminate in a final concert.
